Now, when I rented this, I had only seen the trailers. I hadn't read any reviews or talked to anyone who had played it before. I was expecting a good game. I got screwed. It's not all bad, but what it does do right counts for very little of how much I enjoy a game. With that said, I'll start with the good stuff. Graphics - This is definitely the game's best point. In a word, the graphics are beautiful. Some of the best I've ever seen. That was what lured me into renting this sucker(pun intended). The character models are done very, very nicely, and Bats' cape physics are pretty well done, except for in his little dying animation, it goes a little nuts there. All the buildings and such look very good, and there is lots of detail everywhere. Trust me, all you graphics nuts will be, well, nutting yourselves over this game. Unfortunately for Batman: Dark Tomorrow I really don't care about graphics. 10/10 Story - In all honesty, I couldn't get far enough without the urge to throw my Wavebird at the wall to discern any type of story. Well, I got a little at the beginning, but that's it. It has something to do with some evil guy setting up satellites all over space to try to take over the world. Maybe. But when you're actually playing, it starts with a little side-story of stopping a gang war between Black Mask and Scarface. And that's all I know. apparently, some comic hotshots were brought in to write the story, and everyone who managed to suffer through the game seems to think the story was Oscar-worthy. It all seems standard Batman fare, so I'll give it an 8/10. Music/Sound - I can't say that I was exposed to a lot of music. There was that annoying ''death theme'' that I heard over 100 times and there might have been some background music at the title screen, but that's about all I can remember. Now the voice acting, on the other hand, was brilliant. It sounded like the actors took their roles very seriously, and did the exact opposite of the voice acting in the original Resident Evil. The sounds were there. All the little menu noises, footsteps, wind, that kinda stuff. And the gunshot sounds were pretty good too. They were what I heard the most, in an alleyway where invisible snipers kept gunning me down. And the explosions sound pretty good too. 7/10. Gameplay - This is where the game falls off a building - quite literally. To say the controls were sloppy would be wrong. The controls were sloppy in X2: Wolverine's Revenge. The controls are downright dysfunctional in Batman: Dark Tomorrow. Just moving Batman around is a chore in itself, with him moving every which way if you push the control stick left and he's facing not-left. Then you've got the task of using the Bat-Grapple/-Cable to swing across buildings. You have to jump off the building, press the button, and hope that it actually responds or else you'll plummet to your death. Heck, you'll probably plummet to your death anyway. My next target is fighting. To subdue a crook, you must punch or kick him until he falls down, and then use the Batcuffs on him, or else he'll keep getting up over and over again. This can get extremely tough, since it has to go through the entire ''cuffing'' animation every time, and if you get hit while the animation is taking place, it won't count, and the enemy will get up. Did I mention that enemies are never alone and about 93% of them have guns? Of course, if you want, you could just throw Batarangs at them, but that would require you to go into first-person mode, aim, and mash the throw button until it actually does it. Once again, if you get hit, you'll go back into third-person mode, rendering it almost impossible to use the Batarangs with any efficiency whatsoever. Then there's the whole thing that if you go the wrong way you die. As an example, I was walking through the streets, and there are two alleys. I choose one and when I get so far, Batman starts exploding and the invisible snipers start shooting. After trying about 30 times, I go to the other alley. The exact same thing happens. So eventually I discover a small side alley leading off the original path. But it's blocked by fire. I figure it can't get any worse and run at it. To my amazement, Bats runs right through it. 0/10. Overall - This was horrible. There was nothing enjoyable about playing this game. I don't care for graphics or story, the points in which the game excelled. All I want is a fun game, but this was no such thing. On the other hand, I am something of an audiophile, so I had to give it a few points for the great voice acting and what music there was. 2/10. Recommendation - Stay the Hell away from this game. If you know someone who bought it, slap them and break it(unless they've already done so). Hell, slap me for renting this garbage. I want my 6 bucks back!
